Hundred of “West Papua” students sent to the university

The Regency Government of Asmat, Papua, from 2018 to 2020 has sent hundreds of young people to study at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Makassar, the Province of South Sulawesi, including the Bachelor Science in Nursing Leading to Professional Nurse (BSN-PN) Program, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas). This program has been assessed by the ASIIN International Accreditation Agency. Students are divided into three categories, namely class of 2018 as many as 36 people, class of 2019 as many as 40 people, and class of 2020 as many as 40 people.

The program is based on the education vision of the Regent Asmat Elisa Kambu and his Deputy Thomas E. Safanpo.

Head of the Welfare Section, Aloysius Pasauran, on August 29, 2020, said that those who finished their education would return to serve in Asmat regency. “Education is a solution to accelerate human resources in Asmat,” said Aloysius. “The children are given the opportunity to take education so that it can be utilized properly, therefor their duty is only to focus on study and just study hard,” he concluded.
